Practice good hygiene
- Shower everyday, and scrub your whole body. (If your hair is such that it can only be washed every other day, put it up in a shower cap on your off-days.) After you shower, clean and trim your fingernails and toenails, and moisturize your skin, paying particular attention to legs, knees and elbows.
Think about how you smell. Wear deodorant and perfume, body spray, or cologne.
Wash your face and apply moisturizer twice a day. If you suffer from acne, see a dermatologist for more help. (See more on this below.)
Soft, non-cracked skin is lovely. Use lotion, cream, or body butter on your hands, arms and legs (if you're planning on wearing an outfit that reveals these). You can also use lip butter or any kind of moisturizing lipstick or balm on your lips so it doesn't get chapped.
Brush your teeth twice a day, and floss at least once a day. If you want, you could use whitestrips, mouthwash, or mint-flavored gum afterwards. Your smile will look -and smell- bright and fresh.
Wear a clean outfit every day. Jeans can be good for 2 or 3 wears, but everything else (especially underclothes) should be freshly washed.
Consider managing body hair. Depending on your culture, it can be seen as attractive and even hygienic to shave, pluck or wax certain areas of your body. Some common candidates for hair removal include:- Legs. Clean-shaven legs will help boost you're confidence if you're wearing skirts or shorts.
- Armpits. Armpit hair can hold odor from perspiration for longer.
- Bikini line. This one is a personal choice, but it's something to keep in mind if you're wearing a bathing suit.
- Eyebrows. Plucking or waxing is common between the brows (over the nose) to prevent a unibrow. Some people also "shape" their brows by removing hair beneath the natural arch.
- Lip or chin. Most people have fine, white, barely-noticable hair on their faces. If your hair is dark, though, you might want to consider removing it with waxing or hair removal creams.
